Our Mission
The University Bicycle Club (UBC) exists to actively promote the use of bicycles at the University of Western Australia. The UBC targets all bicycle users with an emphasis on a community of cyclists helping each other to ride at UWA. The club believes cycling should be an integral part of the UWA culture and part of UWA’s transportation solution. Overall it is UBC’s aim to promote and facilitate cycling at UWA in conjunction with the UWA Student Guild and the University.
Why Cycle?
We believe cycling is an amazing form of transport
Belittled by the use of cars and Transperth and collectively thought of being reserved for the ubër fit or enthusiastic cyclists (which is entirely untrue), cycling is good for the environment, it’s good for you and it’s free!
We believe cycling is a form of expression
While the aesthetics of a bicycle aren’t everything, riding a bike that expresses your personality means you are going to enjoy riding it - hopefully more often.
We believe cycling is a missing part of our culture
At UWA we have a spacious campus and a fantastic surrounding area that is just out of !walking range. By having a bicycle at UWA you can grab lunch in Nedlands with friends, !ride along Matilda Bay and make it back to the Business School all in time for your next lecture. Riding is quick, social and environmentally friendly.

Why does UWA need a cycling club?
Over recent years bicycle usage at UWA has exploded. You can see it in front of the business school, the science library and the engineering building. In fact you can see it in front of almost all the schools at UWA, where bicycles are locked onto all manner of stationary objects. With such a large group of people all participating in the same activity it’s time for the representation of cyclists so that we may promote cycling and facilitate bicycle usage across campus.
